Climate Resilience Through Tree Plantation

In South 24 Parganas district, we are advancing large-scale tree planting initiatives to strengthen climate resilience. By planting diverse species such as Jhau, Siris, Peach, and Neem, we create natural barriers that reduce wind speed and mitigate the impact of cyclones. These trees not only safeguard the environment but also enhance the overall resilience of vulnerable communities.

Mangrove Plantation in the Sundarbans

Mangroves are nature’s frontline defense against coastal erosion and rising sea levels. In the cyclone-prone Sundarbans, we have planted more than 5,000 mangrove saplings, contributing to the restoration of degraded river embankments. This initiative protects both land and livelihoods, while reinforcing the ecological balance of this fragile delta region.

Medicinal Plants for Well-being

Our plantation drive also supports community health and nutrition. Alongside shade and timber trees, we cultivate medicinal plants with natural healing properties. These plants act as a “green pharmacy,” offering accessible remedies and promoting holistic well-being within the community.
